Into the Fire

Into the Fire

A Poem by realmwriter

I find a bind inside my mind
A place I cannot escape
For which there is a lock
That holds a key
That will not engage the hasp.
I hear my voice, my screaming voice
Loud the earthy rasp.
Plunge my hands into the fire
To cleanse and set me free
Of burden that is great.
  I wander on into infinity
Stumbling through the gate
Of time and tell
Of all to late
Of what drives me to my fate.
  In time I guess
I will find
The key that holds the lock
But till such time
I plunge my hands into the fire.

I love searching poems it seems so fitting that inner struggle and self discovery would best be done through poetry!
Good writing friend and I can't wait to read more!

And through fire, we can cleanse the self, let the flames lick at the shadowed doubt and cure the hurt and longing :) xoxo

I love the image of plunging into fire. It's such a powerful theme and can never be overdone. Your other uses of imagery are done very nicely as well, such as the screaming, earthy rasp and the lock and key. I really enjoyed reading this!

The third stanza is my favorite, this piece is really fantastic.

Sometimes we must plunge into the thick to lighten the load of misery too much to bear. I can relate. A wonderfully expressive piece!
