This Is But A CarcassA Poem by realmwriter
This body is but a prison. I am but a soul.
Beautiful in every way, more than can be imagined. This body is but a maniacal parasite. I am but a helpless captive. Ugly to the core of death, guilty for its perverse pleasures. This body will die and I will be free. This body will devour itself and I will be released. This body is as useless to me as the cast is to the snake. I have outgrown it and it has become burdensome. I search for the release but cannot seem to find it. Perhaps I search in the wrong places. I grow weary of trudging further along carrying this heavy load. So I pray that I might find rest and shed these extra pounds of flesh. Death where are you? Come find me. I'm here waiting. I am but a soul, held against my will and I plea to whatever ear hears me. I am a man, destroy me. © 2012 realmwriter |
