"Damaged Goods Never Look Good to New Buyers"A Poem by realmwriterI am borrowing this as a title from J Todd Underhill. It is not a title from him that I know of but it is a quote from a review of his to a poem by swapz747 titled "Long Gone."
Broken, belittled, diminished, disturbed
Take it or leave it, I am Damaged Goods.
New Buyers will pass, on my roughened exterior
Because I, am Damaged Goods.
A buyer looking for a new car,
doesn't go to a used car lot.
Nobody wants to live in the basement,
of a house someone else is renting.
Chewed on like a dog toy,
road wet and put away
I'm an old dog in new hay.
Because I, am Damaged Goods.
The years have not been kind
and the road ahead is dead.
The journey has been adventurous
but the the adventure has taken its tole.
I may have a few miles on the tires
but my feet still get me where I need to go.
Still I don't catch New Buyers eyes,
Because I, am Damaged Goods.
Damaged goods
Don't look good to new buyers
But new buyers
Still look good to Damaged Goods.
