Stifled By the Gun

Stifled By the Gun

A Poem by realmwriter

How do you get over fear,
when you don't know why you're afraid?

How do you take control,
of what has controlled you all you're life?

I don't know how to answer this,
it's something that I missed.

I'm so afraid to fail, that I never try
Still I don't know a lie, rejection is the nail.

It's all that I can see, another sneer of judgement passed
One more mocking glare of indignity, made to ever last.

One more laughing face, one more cracking smile,
one more miserable grin, one last saving grace.

I guess that's what I see, I don't believe in me.
Somewhere down the line I left confidence behind.

How do you get over fear,
When you don't know why you're afraid?

Yeah very good indeed! It is clean and clear and packs a punch with it's message! We all struggle with self-doubt and self-limiting fears... part of the human condition I guess... keep up the great internal reflecting! :)

One of your best, realm. Very clean, very concise, no minced words.

That's the million dollar question, isn't it? How DO we get over fear when we do not know why we are afraid. I think this poem captures that moment of confusion quite well. The moment where we're filled with more questions than answers. I also like the title of this poem.

This is a job well done. I'm especially fond of the lines "One more laughing face, one more cracking smile, / one more miserable grin, one last saving grace." Good writing.
