Because We Are AfraidA Poem by realmwriterTangeled the web that casts its doubt, We lie, we cheat, we steal, we blame Yet we do not take it as our own, we do not own it!
Why?
Tainted the web that flings dispair, We primp, we preen, we bolster, we peacock Yet we do not put forth our best, we are fake
Why?
Timid the web that airs its disdain We hide, we run, we weaken, we sway Yet we do not stand strong in our attempts
Why?
Why do we lie to a potential mate and to eachother? Why do we hide from what is right in front of us?
We seem to wallow in our self pitty, and expect everyone around us to follow in our footsteps and join the fray. Why do we stay in this quagmyer, that is a detriment to our souls?
Why can't we face the truth?
Why do we do these things to our selves? Why do we hide from love and run from friendship? Why can't we find the strength to recover from our wounds? Why can't we stop licking them and quit whining?
Where are we going that we can't slow down and take the time to read between the lines? Why do we box ourselves in, only to complain of beeing cloterphobic? Why do we hide who we really are?
Why?
But what are we so afraid of?
