Gilded Moonlit Hour

Gilded Moonlit Hour

A Poem by realmwriter

If you the moon, guard the night, then guard my home with all your might

Stay the shadows from the corners and the devils of their fright

If you the moon, light the way, then light my path this darkened day

Stay the tides that wash the gloom and the hush that speaks the fray

If you this night grow wise and bright, then share with me your cognition

Stymie the howl of the beast within and silence the cries of contrition

If you the dark and sorrowless shadow call, then call me into your bower

Stymie the fear of stumbling numb, this long and drearily desolate hour

Thank you very much Neva. I am very happy that you lie it.
This great poem reminds me of being a child and having to go out back to my dad's shed in the dark of night to fetch something. I hated the darkness, but if the moon was full and projected it's wattage strong enough, it would illuminate the shed well enough for me to feel significantly better. Great writing, RW!

Yeah I've seen that movie, pretty good I thought. Can't think of the name of it though.
I liked this. It gave me two different impressions; one being afraid of the dark and all it entails, praying for the moon to illuminate the world and wash away the shadows. The second impression is of someone who fears who they become at night, murderer, fiend, or beast suffering from lycanthropy. The poem was fluided and read with ease until the break in rhythm between 'wisdom and coward' but that could be me,
