And It Struck You In the Heart

And It Struck You In the Heart

A Poem by realmwriter

I am a fool

I yelled a useless plea

I flung a dagger without looking

And it struck you in the heart

"THEN CHANGE" I bellowed

As if this would make you do that which I cannot

It hurt, I know it must have

I felt the dagger too

I didn't know what else to do

You need not change A thing for me

I love you as you are

I stumbled over bitter tongue

And bellowed foolish words

But I should change for you

I spoke without thinking

When I should have simply held my breath

I spoke, when I should have listened

An action without cause

I am a fool

I yelled a useless plea

I flung a dagger without looking

And it struck you in the heart

An interesting way to ask for forgiveness. I am torn, in empathy for the speaker, and empathy for the one being yelled at, having been the recipient of said behaviour for many years. A little note -- third stanza first line I think you meant change A thing, not I.
