Taking Back the Reigns

Taking Back the Reigns

A Poem by realmwriter

Hold back the tears until the great storm comes
Rain drops are perfect for covering a face gone numb.
Wring your hands and hide away
Hide where even the worst won't stay.
Sorrow seeks out the sound of falling tears
Misery loves company, it will sit with you for years.

Take the next train to the station of no pain
Listen to the clickity clack just to get out the rain.
Power to take life rushing down the track
Power to give that life is never coming back.
The lonely whistle reverberates in your head
Leaving you to go mad, as broken as the dead.

Fall relentless, burning despite the cold
Embers rising up, in spite of what you're told.
Remorseful cries languish on the bitter wind
Keeping their secret close, until the very end.
The fire rages, deep inside in your veins
Grasping for control, and taking back the reigns.
