No A-Ha Moments

No A-Ha Moments

A Poem by screamin'ian
"

Another one from a couple months ago

"
No ah-ha moments
Locked inside let free
Roam within
Velveteen prison

Jailers moan
If not for these
Walls I'd be poor
Poor me

Convict cries
If not he'd be
Free to act
Responsibly

Thoughts yearn
Circumstance blinds
To such high ideal
Will to climb

Interesting thoughts intertwined into the words and stanza. Nice.

A mish-mash of escapism? Wanderings in and out of a place nobody wants to be, hurtful yet protective .. fine words hiding sad thoughts .. run for the hills.

I smiled at the irony of the convict who would "be free to act responsibly", when it was irresponsible actions that got him there in the first place, so why is he so sure it would be different? Nicely done, Ian.

It's the velveteen prison and the false comfort there that keeps us behind the bars. :) excellent write.. I can't wait to read more of your work..but now off to work :) x

'Run!' my mind screamed, 'Grab a spoon and dig, dig, dig!' The struggle and the fighting to escape is evident, and the need to get out is strong. This was a chord in the prison cell, sung by the jailer who's in for life, and it's breaking me. The words struck me down, and I got right back up, re-read the piece, and went right back down. The words are complete to understand...Fantastic write!

Being locked away either metaphoically, emotional, or physically can be exhausting.
Clawing your way free just as trying, but when you break free.... An Amazing sense of relief and euphoria follows! Great write! Totally dig it!
