We Like to LieA Poem by justscottA short collection of words used to describe one perspective.
Every life is a trapped soul
Reaching out but rarely felt All under-appreciated All disrespected we pass poison around and get drunk off the cognitive dissonance It becomes our drug We like to pretend We like to lie We like to pretend not to lie and we lie for we are pretentious We strut around with no idea where we are going We like to point at fools who live as such We fail to see that tis not a fool but a reflection The true irony of life is the competition we are in We race each other to be the winner Our horse blinders prevent us from realizing we all have different goals Direction Competing for different means to different ends. Truth hurts so we deny We deny death We deny the soul We refuse unity and accept poverty We advocate peace yet condone war We worship a system we all despise We hate money but depend on it We want love but choose not to believe in it We are a contradiction Scared, confused and isolated Scared to admit we are scared Confused as to who or why we are and isolated into our homes Into our cell phones into our televisions We believe our society is more connected now than ever before Fools to not see the connection was always there never fleeting. We are one and the same Illusory connection and interaction is now consuming us We delve into our screens Screening us from the real world, from real thought. From facing fear and realizing its the mind that is truely powerful. It is the mind that is truly free © 2013 justscottAuthor's Note
