My Selves

My Selves

A Poem by abluehorseandflowers
"

A Sonnet

"
Take the time and you will find
Several Jekyll and Hydes in me
My choking Shame is hard to see
And then Anger can leave me blind

A Scapegoat who is much maligned
The Victim just wants to flee
My Helpless one who'll never be free
To this torment I am resigned

With so many selves to tear me asunder
I forget that first I'm a Soul
And the Innocent is filled with hope
While the joyful Child gazes in wonder
The Gentle me says they all have a role
And God lends me strength to cope.
