A Poem by abluehorseandflowers

Access Denied

The intimacy that I would avoid,
which my best words do not reveal,
keeps my practiced defenses deployed.

There once was affection that I enjoyed,
then I masked my face to conceal
the intimacy that I would avoid.

Relationships that have all been destroyed,
when subject to bitter ordeal
keeps my practiced defenses deployed.

All manner of knowledge I have employed,
yet that only serves to repeal
the intimacy that I would avoid.

When I can see past the celluloid
I realize that a false ideal
keeps my practiced defenses deployed

Of the strength required I am devoid
And though I know that that’s not real
The intimacy that I would avoid
keeps my practiced defenses deployed.

Wow! That must be hard to avoid intimacy so much, but it is nicely written poem!

It sorta sneaked up on me until it just was.
