Typically in my poems feminine pronouns indicates the spiritual connection, in this case too the feminine refers to my estranged daughter.

The Same Game

There's a little girl inside my heart

And there's a little boy too

Desperate for each other's love

But for all the grief that they've been through

There is a chord that's connecting them

But it's really just a thread

Much to frayed to bear a load

Those times and what was done and not said

They need each other the boy and girl

Which they can't seem to admit

A continent between them

Allows them not to commit

To looking inside at who they are

Behind their walls erected

Taking peeks over the tops

Crippled by fear of being rejected

So there they sit alone and in pain

Raggamuffins just the same

With no umbrellas for the rain

Neither are tired of their game
