An AfternoonA Poem by abluehorseandflowersThird of three titled "A Day"An Afternoon
Eating lunch Fluorescent lights bright The tables are crowded with diners condiments A low sound a murmur consistent people talk Breaking through forks on plates harsh and sharp spoons in bowls more hollow it sounds and laughter Service dog chocolate she's colored attentive only to the charge of her service A veteran of Iraq went three times was blown up fourteen times and lost friends seven times Gumbo soup oily red and yellow and black too plus there's green spicy taste Chocolate cream pie makes for dessert graham cracker crust is sweet and crunchy A napkin finishes up the meal That's my day
