3 AM on the Internet

3 AM on the Internet

A Poem by Scott A. Williams
"

A quick one

"
At this point of the night
you're the only name online
and I haven't the will
to click.

Everyone else has gone,
or cleverly set themselves away
with a note of "gone to bed"
-- still available for a delayed message left
like a post-it on their desktop
but you
you're here.

And me, I let my cursor hover
over your name and fretfully wonder
what, what, what would I say?
How should I justify
delaying your own possible
escape from the e-world
and not reveal
my secret desires
to talk with you
about anything, anything,
until sunrise.

It's 3 AM on the internet
and if I'm going to do nothing about it,
I should just go.

The futile, desperate battle that inevitably ends with breaking out the Jergens and a fresh bout of self-loathing. Oh, how you speak to all of us, Scotto.

This was sweet.

I can't tell you how many times I've tried to write something like this, and failed, miserably. haha I really enjoyed reading this, thank you for voicing my thoughts. A fantastic piece. :)
