A Poem About the Moon

A Poem About the Moon

A Poem by Scott A. Williams
"

Like nearly everything I write, a poem about poetry.

"
I have never written you a poem about the moon
'cause every single one of them takes place in June
and I've never had one of those complacent attitudes
to set pen to paper and scrawl you some platitudes
relying on an easily-assembled rhyming couple,
'cause I'm just a bit more nuanced and subtle,
and what we've got ought to sing its own tune,
and the last thing I want is to end this too soon.

Love it.
It's cute. Not corny or childish...but the flow is fun and the rhymes are unique and it doesn't take itself too seriously.
I like that you don't write for the sake of writing, unsatisfied with it ending and settling for mediocrity. That what this says to me.
It's hard to write about writing or paint about painting or dance about dancing and get the point across well, but you did.
