Back When

Back When

A Poem by Scott A. Williams

So, so, so, so, so
long ago
I knew you, oh
what's a young man
like me got to do
to get a little more attention
from a little girl like you.
Changed, changed, changed, changed
like the time
and I'm
not nearly as much the same
you might be surprised to find.
I'm just the guy I wanted to be
back when, back when, back
when you knew me.

Ah wishing for that lost crush to see who we've become sweet yet so sad..
The repitition. I agree with the others definitely could become a song...

As posted by J.P. Bristow, I agree that this would work very well as a lyric. I could appreciate piano, guitar organ or even an A cappella arrangement, with the natural beat as rythm.

There is a timeless quality that is remeniscent of the minstrel ballad of the Dark Ages or even the more modern Dylan, Mclean, or even Stephens.

This lyric feels incomplete, but that may be just the short form. If there were a few more verses to turn this into a lyric ballad.

I will say that what is shared here is enjoyable, and it is in no way my intent to give anything but a good review.

I could see this being set with an acoustic guitar--very slick .......kind of post-barenaked ladies .....ish
