GardeningA Poem by Scott De BuitléirA love poem at homeOn a cool, slow, evening in May I stood by the window, and Watched the constant, soft, rain fall, While listening to the blackbirds’ song. There, upright in mindful meditation, I guarded our garden, barren upon arrival, Yet through your care and desire To see something beautiful grow The flowers you bought, pansies violet and blue, Now take root, aided by rain and faith That once uncared-for soil, in time, Will deliver rewards of fragile beauty. Indeed, in dry days, a preview of summer, I’ve made sure to support your labour For I know, in comfort, as I now watch the rain, All you wish for is a home in blissful bloom.
