Epilogue: Parasitic Psychosis
Year 0 Leon “I now present to you the class of 2008.” The superintendent of schools says over the loudspeaker on the evening of Leon’s graduation in late June. There is a round of applause and all the graduates throw their caps into the air and everyone starts to disperse and mingle. Leon walks up to his family. “We’re so proud of you.” Moxxie says with tears in her eyes. “I’m glad at least one of you graduated.” Sydd sr. says. “Yeah, you don’t have to worry about me dad, I got this.” “Got what?” he asks. “’Life’” “We shall see.” “What does that mean?” “Never mind. Enjoy your graduation.” Aaron walks up to Leon and gives him a hug. “Bro, we finally graduated!” he says. Leon’s family leaves and mingles with another family. “Hell yeah, I’m so glad this is finally f****n’ over! Best part is, I was accepted for my police training and I started last week, I graduate in six months. This is so awesome, I’m gonna be a cop! I’ve been practicing every day. What about you, bro?” “My dad hired me to be a mechanic at his shop, I’m actually gonna get paid instead of being just a kid helping out after school getting twenty bucks here and there.” “That’s awesome.” “Yeah, me and John are moving out of our parents’ house and combining our efforts to pay for an apartment together.” “Haha, you sure you’re ready for that?” “Whaddaya mean?” “You guys aren’t… you know… the best of friends.” “Hey, gotta do what I gotta do.” “Alright, I’ll see ya tonight, man.” “See ya.” 4 Months Later Sydd “So… when are you fixing this s**t?” Sydd asks Rob one day. “I’ll get to it, I’ll get to it.” Rob says. “You’ve been saying that for a year, all you’ve done in that time was drugs.” “So? Here, have a rock; it’s on me.” “Awesome!” He smokes it. “What was I saying?” “That you wanted to do more drugs.” “Oh, yeah. I don’t know what I want.” “When was the last time you dropped lucy?” “Awhile.” “Here ya go.” Sydd takes the tab and lays back on the ground. He starts thinking about his family, his friends, and all the people he knows. He visualizes them in front of him and a phantom reaper flies past his vision, through the people. Sydd starts laughing hysterically as he runs around stabbing random people. Then, he slits Janis’ throat, still laughing. He continues laughing as her body hits the floor and he stabs her repeatedly, just making an absolute mess. Stuff that belonged on the inside was on the outside, and the blood was just everywhere, she was pretty much pureed by the end and he’s laying on the ground laughing. He watches as Leon turns and arrests Charlotte before shooting her in the back of the head. Brian and Zakk shoot each other in the head at point blank range. Rob kills Carmella and then himself. He then has a searing hot pain in the back of his head. He then sees the profile of a woman holding a gun walk by before she fades away and everyone else does too and he comes down, still lying on the floor in Rob’s living room with everything getting blurry as he passes out. Rob Rob takes his and he lays on the floor too. He sees his dad, who’s dressed in a pinstripe suit and matching hat and walks towards him. “What the f**k are you doing here?” “My oh my, is that really how you greet your father? Here I just thought you were only acting out. You really hate me, don’t you?” he says. “Yeah.” “Yeah, I heard what you said right before you killed me, that was harsh buddy. Guess I named you correctly, you ‘Rob’bed me of my life… and your mother’s. Hahahahaha, ‘Rob’bed’. I gotta write that one down. Anyway… Me, I can understand, but why your mother?” “She was just as much of an embarrassment, stripping, having no shame or dignity. She gave up just as easily as you did.” “So just kill us, take everything, lose everything, and then what?” “I don’t f****n know, I’m just going with it.” “Have you thought any of this through?” “Just seems like a good idea.” “Ok, I see where this is going. Um, keep up the good work and before you know it, you’ll be in the hottest place on Earth!” “Yeah, I’ll be king of the world!” “Yeah, keep it up buddy!” “So, where is mom?” “I’m right here.” Says a woman with black hair, pale white skin and black dress who looks like Rob’s mom. “Mom?” “Yeah, you little a*****e.” “Heh, I forgot what a coherent sentence sounds like coming from you. S**t.” “You always were a little shithead.” “Suck my dick.” “You really are disturbed, aren’t you?” “Huh?” She approaches him, swaying her hips. She loosens the last two buttons on her dress, showing more cleavage. “You wanna be mommy’s big boy?” She asks seductively as she strokes his cheek and holds his chin, going in for a kiss. He instantly backs away. “No! That’s sick!” “Oh, come on, you saw a naked woman every day!” “Stop! Get out of here! Get out! Get out!” She leaves. “Unresolved issues?” His dad says. “Gross! No!” “This is YOUR subconscious we’re in.” “So I’m dead?” “Wha- no!” “Oh, good the lucy is wearing off, goodbye, dad. Finally.” “If you wanna talk again, just do some more and I’ll be someone else next time.” “What? I didn’t hear you.” But he was gone and Rob is facedown on the rug drooling. Carmella Carmella walks in on them both lying on the floor. “Aw,man, you guys dropped lucy without me?” She notices one left and takes it. She visualizes Rob getting up and giving her a hug. “I love you so much, Robbie.” she says. “I love you too, Carmella. I wanna be with you forever and ever.” “Really?” “I promise you we’ll always be together.” “But what if something happens?” “Don’t worry, we’ll make anything work. Just listen to what I tell you, baby. I’ll do anything to make you happy.” “Aw, me too Robbie.” “That’s great, baby. I knew I could count on you, especially after my parents died. That was so sad.” “I know, Robbie. I’m so sorry to hear about that.” “It’s ok, I have you and I always will.” “You’re so right, and you’ll always have me.” “We live together, we die together.” “Of course.” “Now wake me up so we can do a couple lines of heroin together.” He thrusts his hand into her chest, takes out her heart and crushes it in his hand. “That sounds wonderful.” He lays back down and she wakes up on the floor. She crawls over and shakes Rob. “Huh? Wha-? Oh, hey baby what’s up?” “You said to wake you up so we could do a couple lines of horse together.” “Did I? I don’t remember…” “I remember it so clearly.” “Sounds like a plan anyway, I don’t feel a f****n’ thing.” He takes out 4 bags and makes two bigger lines out of them. He and Carmella do them and Sydd wakes up. “Hey Rob, I need one too, you wouldn’t believe the trip I just had. My cheeks and my chest hurt from laughing so hard.” Sydd says. “Laughing, huh? At least you had a fun trip.” “It’s not so much that it was fun, it was just, I don’t know how to describe it…” “Well, what happened?” “All I remember is stabbing people and I don’t know why, it just seemed so hilarious.” “Haha, that’s cause it is, man. I was right, you were lucky, you had a fun trip. I don’t even want to talk about mine.” “What happened, Robbie?” Carmella asks. “I saw my parents.” “Oh, I’m sorry.” “It was horrible. Tell me about yours, instead.” “Ok, it was about you.” “Really?” “Yeah, we were just sitting here talking like we are now and you told me how we’re going to be together forever and that you’d do anything for me.” “That’s cause I totally would.” “I would definitely do anything for you, Robbie. I’d even die for you.” “Are- are you serious?” “Yes, I love you that much.” “Would you kill for me?” “If I had to.” “Oh, baby, this is going to be wonderful.” “I love you so much.” “Yeah, back atcha, slugger.” “You’re so perfect.” “I know.” Two Months Later Aaron drops Leon off at his house and drives away. Leon had graduated from his police training and spent the weekend with Aaron and John to celebrate and as he gets to the house, he sees Sydd standing on the porch with his bags. “About time someone came home, I’ve been waiting for like, an hour.” Sydd says. “What are you doing here?” Leon asks. “Rob’s place is gross, I’m moving back in!” “I don’t think they’ll let you.” Leon walks in and notices most of the contents of the house are missing. He walks over to a desk with a note attached to it with his name on it. “Whazzat?” “They left a note.” He opens it up and reads it: *‘This was hard for us to do, but your brother is relentless. If I’m right, he’s still the same, and trying to move in. You seem to still see a glimmer of hope in him, I’ve noticed you think you can change him. You’re an adult now, and I’m sorry you had to be thrust into this but we didn’t have a choice. He’s your problem now.’* “Wow.” “What, what does it say?” “They had a feeling you were coming back so they left. They want nothing to do with you anymore unless you clean your life up.” “Thank God, I was getting sick of the nagging. I’ll be up in our room.” “This is unbelievable.” He calls the number his mom left. “Hello? Hey, mom. Can we meet somewhere? Perfect, see you soon.” He leaves the house and meets up with Moxxie. “So, why?” “It’s your brother’s fault. We don’t want to deal with him anymore. You can still stay in contact with us just as long as your brother doesn’t find out. Lance is getting older and he doesn’t need Sydd in his life teaching him all the wrong things. I’m sorry I did it the way I did, but we needed to make sure he had no clue.” “I’m going to need help, I can’t do it alone.” “Hey, if he goes to jail, you won’t have to worry about him at all.” “Mom!” “Just sayin’” “No, he’s my brother and I know he’s still in there somewhere.” “I don’t know why you haven’t given up on him yet, he’s hopeless.” “What he needs to do is find something he likes better than drugs.” “That’s going to be tough, he’s been high for like, what, seven years already?” “Almost, yeah.” “If you think you can get him back, more power to you.” “I’m going to try my damndest.” “Good luck. I love you.” “I love you too, mom.” Leon drives home, and on his way, picks up Charlotte. “We need to talk.” “What’s up?” Charlotte asks. “So, my parents left me the house and moved out.” “Really?” “I was wondering if you’d like to move in with me.” “Definitely, Leon!” She reaches over and hugs him. “There’s, uh, a catch though.” “What’s that?” “Sydd will be living there with us.” “No!” “Babe-“ “No, I am not living in the same house with that psycho!” “Look, what if I set some ground rules, and if he breaks them, he gets kicked out?” “You would kick your own brother out onto the street?” “If I had to, yeah.” “So why not do it now?” “Cause he technically hasn’t done anything yet.” “I bet he’s doing drugs. Breaking rule number one right now.” “I can’t stop him from doing drugs.” “Yes you can. You can throw him in jail as soon as we get home.” “No, I’m not- look, he’s addicted, he’s not going to be all right in the head. We can’t stop him from doing the drugs.” “Then I’m not moving in.” “Please, I can’t do this without you.” “Fine, but he stays in his room, I know nothing if anyone asks, and I’m only doing it cause I care about you Leon.” “Thanks so much, babe. I love you.” “I love you too, Leon.” They arrive back at the house and walk in to Sydd doing a line on the coffee table. “Hey guys.” Sydd says. “Told you.” Charlotte says to Leon. “Told me what?” “Nothing, Sydd.” Leon says. Alright, we have some ground rules. Firstly, no drugs outside your room. Second, no stealing from other people. You can socialize with us as long as you’re not too messed up. Also, I don’t want you starting any fights, and don’t use anything as an excuse. You’re like this because of what you did to yourself, nobody else. If you break any of these rules, I can promise you that you will find yourself on the street or in jail. Do you understand me?” “Whatever, man.” “I’m not f*****g around, here.” “Fine, fine. Yeah, whatever. I understand.” “Good. Go to your room and do that unless you’re done.” “Nah, not yet.” He gathers his stuff and goes upstairs. “Ugh.” Charlotte exclaims. “Don’t worry, hopefully we won’t see much of him around.” “God, I hope you’re right. I can’t stand him.” “He’s, uh, still my brother and all.” “Sorry, there’s nothing to like about him.” “Somewhere in there, there is.” “Yeah, ok. Did your parents leave us any booze?” She starts checking cabinets. “Aha!” She takes a swig from the bottle. “Whoo! I needed that.” “Alcoholism is an addiction too.” “Pssh, I’m not an alcoholic, I rarely drink.” “Just saying.” “Just saying, what? You think I’m an alcoholic now?” “No, I’m just warning you so it doesn’t happen. I’ve already seen one person I love get destroyed by addiction, I don’t need it happening to you too.” “Oh, I’m sorry Leon, I didn’t think of it that way.” “Yeah, well, I’m sorry for snapping. If you want to have a drink, I understand. I’m a little stressed about this whole situation too.” He grabs the bottle and takes a swig as well. To Be Continued... © 2024 Scorpious Alpha |
