On the Brink

On the Brink

A Poem by Angela
"

I was having a moment

"

Poised on the brink of madness,

I teeter.

Acutely aware of the immense

Fragility’s of the human mind,

I pause and take a moment to reflect.

I project out my psyche,

Clutching desperately.

Always in search

Of reason, compassion, or

Divine guidance and

Incapable of stopping

The cascade of loneliness and

Heartache that have set up

Residency and are now

My lifelong companions.

Looking skywards, I see

The heavens open

And spew forth a countless

Succession of meaningless

Declarations.

Faith, hope, charity, peace,

Love, and patience

Are all discarded now,

Powerless against this inner

Torment for survival.

 Damned to suffer the onslaught

Of mindless meanderings and

Righteous indignations of the

Pathological pompous pretenders.

I know there to be no amnesty,

No solace, no knight in shining armor

To rescue the unwitting damsel in distress,

So acceptance of what was ultimately

Predestined dawns on the horizon.

Poised on the brink of madness,

I teeter.

Then slip, spiraling slowly downwards

Into an abyss of anguish and disparagement.

Forever stained by man’s futility

And life’s irony.

Ashes to Ashes

Dust to Dust

I must apologize for not reading your work sooner, I am so impressed with your penmanship that words along can't dictate my shame for not doing so. This poem, "on the brink" is so well crafted that I would believe that divine intervention has spoken.

Your talent has much to offer in expressing a woman's emotions and sense of loneliness that men could use some common senseme included.

Your parturition of words is nurtured and harmonious, but I should add clever Pathological pompous pretenders. I'm am happy to review your work and stand before you humbled.

Wow Ang! This is intense and the last lines really sealed it. I think the key word here however is "acceptance". I personally believe that acceptance is probably what keeps us from spiraling into madness.

Damn girl...I really felt this. It sounds like my mind now and then,
and I'm not sure that's a good thing.. lol.

The imagery and emotions are strong ... very well done my friend! :)
