One Day, When You're Famous

One Day, When You're Famous

A Poem by Sarah J Dhue

One day, when you're famous
You'll look down at me
Laughing because you are what I could never be

One day, when you're famous
You'll brag about your celeb friends
And the line of invitations to parties on your desk that never ends

One day, when you're famous
You'll hit the big time
Your smiling face will be more places than wanted posters for crime

One day, when you're famous
You'll say something that doesn't go over well
The critics and columnists will jump on it and turn your heavenly life into a living hell

One day, when you're famous
You'll look at the tabloids and see
They don't say nice things anymore and the pictures of you aren't as pretty

One day, when you're famous
You'll come crying to me
Wanting to be with someone who doesn't believe everything they read about thee

One day, when you're famous
I won't have time for you
I'll be like you were for me back in the time of your debut

One day, when you're famous
I'll learn all your bragging and mockery I could take
Because at least now all my smiles aren't fake

Love it! Great poem about how popularity and fame may not be what everyone thinks. I like your rhyming and the flow of the poem. Great writing! :)
