Spider's Web

Spider's Web

A Poem by Sarah J Dhue

Weave spider, weave

Spin your web

Build the structure to

protect yourself

catch your food

If woven properly

it will be impenetrable

Stronger than steel in fact

Worry not about the flies,

mantises, or caterpillars

Spinning a web such as this

others are bound to get caught up

It is the natural order of things

As more web as wove

more bugs will get caught

in those sticky strands

Weave tightly

Let not even one little bug

get through your web of lies

I actually watched a spider spin its web, right outside my bedroom window one day. My computer desk sits right beside it, so I was able to watch intermittently without missing much. It was fascinating, the time and diligence he took, working than stopping just briefly perhaps to catch his breath. I felt privileged to watch the articulation of such an every day occurrence. I'd almost forgotten all about it, till I read this. Much enjoyed your clairvoyance, Sarah!

It is a marvel watching a spider spin a web. A work of art and then mother nature admires it so, she also adds dew drop beads. I enjoyed your poem very much.
