CopycatA Story by Sarah J Dhue
Benji was a serial killer. Not that anyone knew, or he wouldn't have had custody of his son. He was sure to leave time between each kill and mix up the pattern from time to time. He didn't want to leave a trail. So far he was doing a good job of lying low.
Benji wasn't a bad dad. Or at least he hadn't thought he was a bad dad. That was until the day his son, Christian, had his friend Daniel over to play. Benji had suddenly realized there was not a single juice box in the house. He told the boys that he was running to the store and he'd be back in ten. When he arrived back at the house with an eight pack of apple juice boxes, the boys were nowhere to be seen. He sat the juice on the counter and began looking for them. That was when he noticed the basement door was ajar. Of course. Some of Christian's toys, like the play kitchen set, were in the basement. He walked down the stairs to inform them that there was now juice in the house. What he found made him reevaluate his murderous life choices. Daniel was tied up and gagged in a little chair next to the kitchen set. And Christian was standing in front of him with one of the toy knives held up to Daniel's throat. He turned and beamed up at Benji. "Look Daddy! I'm just like you!"
