Writer's Wednesday #19: Mailbox POVA Story by Sarah J DhueOn my blog, I do an 'event' called Writer Wednesdays. I post a prompt and others(including me) write something based on that prompt. One day, he wrote the letter. He was nervous, stopping several times and
sighing heavily, grabbing his hair before writing some more. I watched through the window like this for a while,
then he finally signed the letter, folded it, and placed it in an envelope,
putting the flashy firework stamp in the top right corner. He came outside and handed me the letter. He had just entrusted me with the sacred
mission of making sure the postal delivery associate took the letter to its
destination. He knew that I could be
trusted with this job. The next day, the
postal associate took the letter and then I just had to wait. Until one day a letter arrived with
a saxophone printed stamp and the return address matching the address on the
letter he had sent out. He eagerly read
the letter in front of me, then ran inside to write a reply, much quicker and
effortlessly than the first. He placed
yet another firework stamp on it and handed it to me. Same as before, the postal associate took the
letter, a few days passed, and a reply arrived, this time with a guitar stamp "
it would appear she’d bought the instrument book of stamps. He sent out another letter and a few days
later, in lieu of a letter, she arrived and they embraced. I was proud to have been instrumental in
bringing them together, and I thought of her mailbox, who had played an equally
important role. © 2015 Sarah J DhueAuthor's Note
