Writer Wednesday #14: Genre PieceA Story by Sarah J DhueOn my blog, I am doing a new 'event' called Writer Wednesdays. I post a prompt and others(including me) write something based on that prompt. Grayson sat down and took the menu
from the waitress. As he was perusing
the sandwich options, he could not help but overhear the conversation of the
two older men next to him. They were
talking very loudly and Grayson assumed that one, if not both of them, was hard
of hearing. “Ed, I tell ya, the breasts are the
best!” “No no, Wilbur, I keep telling you,
I am more of a leg man.” Grayson glanced over at them, trying
not to stare, but thinking that this was a rather inappropriate conversation to
be having in public, especially at that volume. “But the breasts have so much more…
volume to them.” Wilbur cupped his hand,
shaking it at Ed. “That is not always true, if you get
one with fantastic thighs, then you get just as much.” Ed licked his lips. Grayson almost said something to
them, but realized that would give away that he had been eavesdropping; not
that it was hard, since they were practically yelling. “That may be so, but the rest of the
leg is… not so good. And the thigh still
cannot measure up to a good breast.” “You’re bonkers. Legs look better too.” Ed insisted. “Have you gone blind in your old
age? When I see a good breast, I-” Grayson stood, setting his menu on
the table. He would not be able to enjoy
his meal with two old perverts shouting behind him. As he walked out the door of the restaurant,
the waitress brought a large plate of fried chicken to the old men’s table. © 2015 Sarah J DhueAuthor's Note
