The Words of a Kiss

The Words of a Kiss

So much is said with so few words.

The Words of a Kiss

The words of a kiss

   are ancient they say.

They’re spoken moments

   they act out a play.

Each tender small touch

   each moment sublime,

speaks volumes in verse,

   in prose, and in rhyme.

They cannot be counted

   by clocks on the wall.

Nor is there measure

   not great or not small.

Each one is a concert

   in passions bright room.

They each sing their own song;

   some joy and some doom.

I remember the first days

   when talk was all cheap,

when climbing a mountain

  was but a small leap.

The days passed in plenty

   the years rolled on by,

yet ever that lip song

   still lets out his sigh.

Though often our troubles,

   our worries, our pain,

will insert a barrier

   where love had once lain.

Then still waits a new song

   with words just the same.

A gentle soft answer

   my kiss is its name.

It waits in the evening,

   it waits in the morn.

To start up and speak out,

   my love to adorn.

This is beautiful. The rhythm is superb and the flow is excellent. Mostly when I read poetry that wasn't written like a hundred years ago, I tend not to like it as much, but yours is definitely one of the few that I actually enjoy! Some people don't really care about meter or flow anymore, but this is truly a masterpiece. Good job.

I used to care about meter. Iambic and so on. But now, I've found more and more that poetry should never be an assignment, unless it's from the heart. Words are to meaningful to waste. And yours are way up there on my list of favorites. Your words make me envious of your ability. Honestly, it's like you've stolen some of my thoughts!

I like the way you laid it out with the font and indents. The flow of it is smooth. Nice write.

This was really good. =D
I like how you describe all the ways a kiss could appear to somebody, depending on their outlook.

Oh wow, this is such a lofty, pretty little write. Makes one want to go kiss their beloved just to remember. :)
Nicely rhymed. It flowed so smoothly, I was at the end before I knew it. :)

This is such a beautiful interpretation of the kiss, so deep and emotional. I find that the rhyme has given it a mysterious touch. I bet anyone who reads this poem will connect with its meaning- I have for sure.

This was great! Best description of the emotion behind a kiss i have read yet.

I don't normally rhyme, i always feel it sounds silly, but this was amazing. i loved the rhyme scheme, it made the poem up beat and fun to read. keep it up.
