Trial of Three Stars

Trial of Three Stars

A Poem by MapleScholar
"

Dedicated to the silent wisdom whose efforts were all for naught

"

They say the brightest light casts the darkest of shadows;

Light granting hope to those in dire need at the cost of another's dreams.

'Tis a cruel balance of order, a fate shared not only by humans but even by the stars.

Let us turn our gaze upward, for our tale to begin.

At the center of the universe, a sun rests upon his cosmic throne.

Its brilliance radiating across nebulae, bathing stars with incandescence.

Although a kind, noble spirit there was a heavy burden on his mind.

"The more I shine, the less others will be seen.

A star must shine by their own light."

It was decided the sun would grant some of his light to others.

While the stars began bickering on why they should be blessed,

Its gaze fixated on three silent faintly glimmering asterisks.

one of youth, another of fame, and the third of wisdom.

When calling out the three stars, he first had to test their resolve.

The watched them for what seemed like ages,

until the time had finally come for judgment.

One the sun had hoped would be for the best outcome for all.

The sun blessed the youngest star by sharing his eternal light,

The popular star still remained gazed upon and adored by many;

Leaving the lonely wise star fading into oblivion, few recalling it ever existed.

The trial of three stars ended.

One granted new light, another shone still as bright.

The third however, an astrologer would say

"'Twas all for a dream, which even heaven hath deem mundane."

The poor light of wisdom is seldom found by others. It's a sad reality for a lot of people.

An interesting story. I'm curious as to the inspiration for the poem. Is it from something in the game? One of the legends? I haven't played Maplestory myself, but it's something that might catch my attention.

Thank you for sharing.
