Two Ways to Lose

Two Ways to Lose

A Poem by schlanks

Another thought on the floor
A knot from my stomach
Tangled like hair I twisted while sure
I don't need such self-destruction anymore
Cut it there
Just short enough so I can't get a grip
To pull out the remains of my happiness
Stop there
Just short of knowing too much
Still convinced that I have just enough

Ignorance is not bliss. But I like to numb myself with bliss so I can cope with the fact that I am ignorant to most things. Therefore, I will do more drugs than I usually do tonight.

Your poems are consistently pretty good to very good which is a great thing I think.

I really like the hair/happiness metaphor and how you played on that throughout the poem.

Thank you for reading and for your feedback, j!
Sometimes it is easier if that issue is removed or made smaller by some act of (kindness) or otherwise but what is gained by that. Tackle it (head) on, stand up to the demons and in most cases they will whimper and run with their ponytail between their legs. At least that is how I read it. Nicely done.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
the inward struggle of thoughts.
the out ward struggle of hair.
{i liked this one a lot. an enticing emotional tug-of-war.}
