Dance Alone

Dance Alone

A Poem by Maxinne Marie

I shall dance alone tonight

With the chill of the air

Swirling around my ivory gown,

With the crisp sound of green grass

Crushed as I tiptoe, tiptoe

In my satin dancing shoes,

And with the stars in the dark, gray sky

Laughing, laughing forevermore.

I shall dance alone tonight

A dance of withered hope and tragedy.

In my rage I shall cry alone tonight

And with these bittersweet tears I shall sway

To the haunting memory of the music he played

With his beautiful fingers running, running

Across keys of black and ivory.

He shall play his piece tonight

And I shall dance this ballet alone

Praying that he is watching me from the sky

Remembering the last piece he flawlessly played

In the solo ballet I performed onstage

Before the black-winged angel took his breath away.

Beautiful picture! You really understand how to put an image into the reader's mind! Very well done. But I suggest changing the color of her dress because you said ivory twice and that makes it a little akward. Also I think it would be fun to describe a little more! How did her dress feel brushing against her legs while she danced?? Stuff like that. :) But very well done!

As if standing in the shadows, peering in through the garden gate, I watched her dance in all her loveliness, to the haunting melody that only she could hear and I felt her pain wash over me. Stunningsimply stunning!

There is much sadness and sorrow in these words. The thing that impresses me the most is that she is still dancing. This speaks of the hope of life continuing after death. It speaks of the hope of going forward. It speaks of love that transcends even death itself.

"Laughing, laughing forevermore."

being musical huh? and it really sounded too well... putting up piano imagery...yah, that's new for me to see you innovate from various style... about the pic, hmmm, well..it's kinda sad though the over-all scheme of the picture is very emotive..i don't know why, perhaps the black and green background didn't contrast well enough to depict loneliness. heheh *shrugs*...but still im on with the piece...great, explore more!!! i have a great time spending some moments out here, of course with your work..

Sad and sweet. Young love is beautiful. Young love cut off before it has time to bloom is sad, indeed.
Lovely imagery.
