Lucky Raine sat on the window seat of her two bedroom apartment. She checked the time. It was well over midnight. She sighed she had been waiting for her roommate Donna to come home. She stood up and went to the kitchen to make some coffee. She had to stay awake to wait for Donna. She always did, ever since college when they met. She had been a studying History while Donna was also in her block. The two became instant best friends and were also ecstatic that were roommates. They knew everything about each other, though Lucky was particular that Donna was a Bunting. The Buntings were one of the richest families in New York, since Bunting industries was a multi million dollar business. Though their peers that knew were always trying to get close to her, particularly the males, she never flaunted her riches not deliberately anyway. She was always a party animal and to stay out all night. Lucky always cleaned up her messes and covered for her to her parents who knew Lucky well and also loved her too. Now 6 years later, they were roommates in an apartment in Queens. Lucky was a dentists assistant, while Donna was well, living off her parents. Her partying habits had increased and she had become more lousy but she wasn't going to bail on her best friend, she had helped her too much, and was always there for her. Why would she bail on her? Besides, she could help her anyway she could, even if it meant staying up all night to make sure she came home OK.
At exactly 1:20 AM she heard a knock on the door and some giggling accompanying it. Lucky hurried to the door and opened it. She saw Donna slumped over someone who was trying hard to keep her from falling. "Oh my goodness! Donna, where have you been? I have been worried sick! And i-" Donna said clumsily " Come on Luck, it's only a little party. I'm fine see." She made a weak attempt to stand when she fell and both Lucky and the stranger held her. "Please can we come in?" said the man. Lucky made way for them to come in. "I found her slumping on the side walk. I was lucky enough that she was a bit more able to tell © 2013 revolution_starter |
