Chipping away

Chipping away

A Poem by RutabagaMac
"

This is just the outlet of coping with real current events I'm experiencing and struggling with.

"
I bite my nails.
I bite them till they bleed.
Quitting to no avail.
Medicating myself with weed.

I don't feel safe in this space.
I am an unwelcomed guest.
Acne spreading on my face.
Tension is inside my chest.
So I bite my nails.

They're short and sad.
I dare not let them grow.
I want to stop so bad.
How far will I go?

Finger tips.
Sides and all.
Peeling my lips.
Clenched jaw.
Grinding teeth.
When all else fails.
I try to breathe,
But I bite my nails.
