In A Little Box

In A Little Box

A Poem by RutabagaMac

I'm in a little box.
A 5 by 5 cold room.
There's a telephone in the wall.
I'm surrounded in gloom.
I'm alone in this box.
I do not know what to expect.
There is no light in here.
No sound to detect.
I'm alone for god knows how long.
Time has no meaning anymore.
I just wait in my little box,
still searching for the door.
I'm in my little box, waiting for a ring.
But there is no sound.
Only evidence of nothing.
I have to have hope.
Even though I'm hurting.
I cannot hear, I cannot see,
One day I'll leave this little box.
And his light will save me.
