Broken Paths

Broken Paths

A Poem by Scarlet M.

If you and me were not meant to be,

Tell me, where do I go so we could be free?

Which part of the earth do I walk on,

when the only destination I knew

was right beside you.

Where do I start picking up

the bits of me scattered around you,

how do I look up to tomorrow

when the future no longer holds us together.

If you and me are not meant to be

please, break me swiftly,

quick enough so I could begin to mend them

piece by piece, in between the cracks.

Until nothing of you remains,

            at least in my memories.

A very true, and inspiring write. Though must it always be that when a tidal wave of love is to cease its existence and only leave traces, that it must break us? It can be useful to improve us and sometimes make us stronger. Beautiful words.
