Deep Dark Depression

Deep Dark Depression

A Poem by Scarlet Alice

Head up high,
She was up for a smile.
Laughter for jokes,
Comfort for friends.
Ordinary was her life,
Extraordinary was her mind.
She was fine as she walks,
She cries as she woke.
Burdens she never asked for.
Problems she couln't handle.
Dreams were suddenly shattered.
Her heart broke like bones.
Her agony nobody feels.
Her depression nobody cares?!
Voices in her head,
Darkness in lead.
Hatred burned her heart,
Drowned her sister in the tub.
Stabbed her brother at the back,
Set fire on their house.
She sat alone as she realized,
Her life was ruined,
Her problems were still.
Crying with no tears,
Her eyes were dried out in fear.
In depression she was caught,
In darkness she fell.
If only someone noticed,
If only someone cared,
If only there was someone to help.
Finally she swallowed her pills,
Never woke up the next day.
Did someone cried for her?

I have read this again and it's hits me differently every time. I too stood on the doorstep of suicide and would have opened that door, but was saved. I don't why, but here I am.

Keep writing and keep talking.
