Tell them

Tell them

A Poem by sayimadreamer13
"

This is a poem about losing my mother

"

In that room,
there in that southern
peninsula. My father sat
me down, he said
"boy, your mother
didn't make it last
night". Slowly, thoughts
began to run. A tragic
relief, cancer won.
I pondered, no more
blue eyes. Golden hair
lost in the sun. Who would
cook the grill cheese
at midnight? Fried
chicken after a nap?
I let go right there
in that room. Yet, i never
forgot, she would look
on me to become the rock.
Four men's first love.
Mother, wife, gone.
My younger brother
called mommy 100
times. An eight year old,
bewildered at his loss.
My father, crushed back
to innocence. My older
brothers link to sanity
cut. I wanted to fill
these gaps. I could sense
her gaze upon me.
She said "Craigy, tell em
life is but a dream."

This is so sad deary. I feel your pain as you wrote this with great feeling and love for your dear Mother. It must have been so difficult to write this but in doing so you are sharing your pain therefore healing will follow. Thanks for sharing this with us.
