Playing with my shadow

Playing with my shadow

A Poem by sayed Mudasir Ali

Playing with my shadow

Somewhere in the north of Arabia
There was a dog near the red sea,
Who would weep for the entire day?
Not many people knew his sounds
Of grief and sorrow which lead him;
To spent his whole life without love.

The separation brought his life on the
Cross roads, so one day he wakes up
And saw the moon performing magic
on the sand so he starts to play with
his own shadow and thinks he finally
Found someone to love for till the sunrise.

Day after day ; these endless nights
became his only source for joy
and what else he could have asked for?
after weeping the entire day and that
only night became his day.

It’s not an imagination, I witnessed it
From my own eyes, even I went there one night
With my mother’s sorrow in my eyes; I thought
Sorrow is only for humans. But my proved theory
Was judged perfectly by the shadow of moon
On that silvery dark sky which describes the pain
of that dog whose fate roped by the shadow of moon.
