A Story by Darcy

It's like she was always seeing the double meaning of things, like if someone held up four fingers and asked how many you see.  The answer is eight, because when you let your eyes lose focus and look past the question you uncover the answer.  She was constantly reading inbetween the lines, her eyes always slightly out of focus, but still somehow piercing and probing into the unknown.  Once in a while she would do something amazing like say the answer to a question that the teacher hadn't even asked yet.  For that she was put in an insane isylumn.  She later revealed to me that anyone can do it, you just have to be a really good reader.  I told her naiivly that i loved to read and I couldn't do that.  She simply smiled at me, absentmindedly.  Then the full force of it hit, her eyes focused in and she said, "It's time," as she walked away.  I never saw my best friend again.
