Part 3

Part 3

A Chapter by Darcy

We started to think about our mortality a lot after we found out how Ariel died.  She had left a note saying, ‘How? How could you… ever?  How could you ever do that to them?  To yourselves?  I hope you feel guilty the rest of your life, DAD!’ and that’s how it ended.  That’s how here final note ended.  She had seen her own father beating a man… that has to make one want to die.

After a year of being good friends with Lilly, she came up to me.  She said, “Now that we are ten, we have to change the world.”  Yeah I know, a huge responsibility for a ten year old still coping with death.  I don’t heal fast; I don’t think I’ll ever heal.

Her plan to change the world went something like this.  She jumps of a bridge, I tell you the story, and then I jump of a bridge.  Simple enough right?

I know what you’re thinking.  You’re thinking, ‘Gosh I bring in this girl to get a little background information on Lilly Garcia.  Then all of a sudden she tells me how Ariel Slonski died, and why.  Then to make things worse she tells me how Mr. Garcia died, and how his wife ended up in the nuthouse.  She even tells me how that ritzy neighborhood went from bad to worse after that Garcia incident, and now.  She wants to kill herself… this is just great!’

Yeah, that’s what I figured, and by the way.  My name isn’t Jane Johnsen.  My name is Monique Sarentine and I plan to carry out Lilly Garcia’s saga.  You want to know what she was waiting for?  She was waiting for the truth.  Good-bye Detective Bradley. Good-bye.
