TwoA Chapter by Summer'sBreezeIt's number two!Chapter Two
I run my fingers over the fine silk, watching it ripple to the ground every time I move. This was always the beginning of my nightmare; obsessing over my pearl white silk dress. Then there was Kat. “Jackie! Jackie, there you are.” Kat parts from the crowd, dressed in a gorgeous strapless red gown. Her dark hair braided so that it was sitting elegantly upon her head. I felt a twinge of jealousy before I shoved it out of my mind. Kat met me with a dazzling smile. “Don’t you just love it here.” She exclaimed, spinning around in rhythm with the music, which I would rate as classic. Very classical music, something I could picture my grandmother listening to. Kat slipped her arm through mine. “Come on!” She urged me through the thick crowd. “The party is waiting.” I squeezed by unfamiliar faces, those that I tried to focus on were still anonymous when I passed by. Whenever I looked I also had the resistible urge to turn away. People and their partners spin by, I stopped short just as two float by almost colliding into me, Kat laughs before starting to spin me around with everyone else. “Jackie, cheer up.” She laughed again. “Live a little, and don’t be so tense. Just relax.” “I’m not tense.” I argued halfheartedly. “I just want to leave.” “You’re such a party pooper.” she complained. “What you need is a guy to dance with.” I rolled my eyes, trying to hide my nervousness. “I don’t know anybody here.” I said lamely. “Well, then.” She tightened her hold on my wrist, spinning me faster. “Lets fix that.” Kat released my hands and I went flying backwards. Before I could even scream in fright hands grip my shoulders, steadying myself from falling. “Hello there.” I look up into the deep green eyes of my captor. Peter. He was the only one who made me wonder if this was a nightmare or one of those glorious dreams you never want to wake up from. Peter held one of his hands out toward me, an offering. “May I have this dance?” Fearing that I would say something really stupid at that moment I just nodded. We stayed in a small circle, not moving as fast as the others in the crowd, while I cherished this private moment. It only made the scene better when Peter said. “You know,” He spun me around gently. “This could be us. We could stay like this forever.” My mind screamed. Yes! Oh, yes! Why did take you so long to finally see that. My heart raced at the thought. Something from the back of my mind kept pricking at me, ruining this moment. I tried pushing it back but it just pushed harder. Get a hold of yourself! Don’t forget where your at. Don’t forget what happens! You have to get out of here! Find Kat. That little person inside me argued. I groaned internally at the voice and replied. Oh, shut up. Let me have this night. Kat. Was its only reply. Somewhere in the crowd I hear a scream but not just any scream. I know that scream. Startled I turn, my eyes scanning the crowd, my heart drops like lead. How could I of lost focus like that? “Kat!” I scream. A hand catches my arm just as I’m about to run. “Let go of me Peter!” Behind me someone laughs. I whipped around to find not Peter, but another young man. I look up at his face only to find it blurry and hard to make any knowable features on him. “Let go of me!” I thrash around as his hands tighten. “Somebody help me!” “There, there.” The man cooed almost mockingly. “There’s no need to run away.” He said. “Go to hell.” I spat. The man chuckled again. “Oh, but we’re already there.” He pulled me closer. Another scream in the crowd. © 2012 Summer'sBreezeAuthor's Note
