The Asylum

The Asylum

A Poem by Savanna Robbins

They’re always yelling

Screaming evil thoughts in my head

I shake and shiver in my cot

Amongst the other child patients

All I see is darkness and pain

As I try to stay alert, but keep getting dragged back

Forever haunted by the sound of deranged laughter, and dainty feet

The doctor is coming, he said today’s the day

They will fix my head forever

I won’t remember the voices, or yells

Only a faint whisper among my jumble brain

As I’m forever dazed, never the same again
