AdolescenceA Poem by AshPoem for school, about adolescence!
There she stands With her head held high Confused feelings swirl around her Always seem tipped with lies Good days and bad are intertwined Then the darkness is suddenly lit A world out there is waiting for her But she can’t bring herself to face it Adulthood lurking Just beyond her fingertips Strange dreams at night About lips touching lips Darkness suddenly surrounds her Why continue on? Problems chase her day by day Eat at her all night long You’re not the only one she thinks There must be others out there Who cry over such trivial things As makeup and their hair Her childhood dreams are forgotten A new era has begun An era filled with all the opportunities And experiences under the sun She wanders precariously through the streets The cars speeding past As fast as lightning bolts Diamonds above her hanging fast But there’s still a long road ahead of her A million more choices A million more changes Though all she can do is put one foot forward Then another. © 2008 Ash |
