Hour Glass

Hour Glass

A Poem by savesthedaynj

You hold my hand inside of yours

insisting we have hours more

I just want to know the time

I hear the ticking of your clock

my seconds invested in your stock

Could you tell me the time

The shrill beeping of your alarm

makes me think you have yet to harm

Why won’t you just tell me the time

Your eyes no longer calm my fears

even after all these years

I need to know the time

You look at your watch and say we’re fine

just promise it’s not another line

Please just tell me the time

You promised that you wouldn’t go

the minutes gone by will never know

I guess you just ran out of time

My toes stuck in the muddied sand

can’t take the place of that warm hand

I can’t stand to know the time

The silent breeze whispered to the wind

you never planned to let me in

It was all a waste of time

Tell me the time...brilliant! You'll forgive me if I am left dumb most of the time here and I just leech my way threw your words, basking. Thanks!
