The Wallflower

The Wallflower

A Poem by savesthedaynj

Dance where you are

don’t flinch a muscle

twitch twenty

as you stand on

the sidelines with the

trendy tricksters moving

to beats in the middle of the floor.

It’s their muse-

ic that gyrates hips

to the pulse and

confident strides towards

the spot of top dog

that get feet tapping.

Slyly hide your eyes

behind chunks of hair

or a hat that makes you

blend into the patchwork like

a plant

a strategic topiary.
