The Tempstress

I love
how he lets
me go. Off
the previous topic,
I speak
my mind.

 

But only to
my tongue.

 

Listen closely or
you might miss
the remark resting
in my larynx that
burned him
to the bone.

 

He just doesn't
know it yet.

He smirks with
victory written
all over his
forehead right
before I smeer
it off, easily.

So breezily in
my thoughts.

 

He won't take this
pleasure away from
my memory. Forever we
will be at odds and I
hold the ace topping this
deck of cards.

Right after he
blows it all down.

I know I will
win before this
war begins and I'm
sure of the storm I
will conjure on
this miniscule man.

First I need to get
rid of "I love you".

first, I like play on words in the title.
second, I like the emotion in this poem, like a final getting the last blow in and yet also like, "I'm good, I'm over it".
