New Years

New Years

A Poem by savesthedaynj

Tell me how you
kiss. Whisper
what it is
that brings us to
this familiar place.

Let it
flow when we
stroll outside in the
cool wet
grass, with the
moon as our
lantern as we
travel deeper into the
forest.

It is here we
learn to
breathe with
one another.
 Below your
plastic framed
glasses
And tattoos of
pride and prejudice
lay not what you
claim to be
but what you
have become.

Naked to the
eye’s mind
I see all of
you
And my fingers
tingle with
impatience

Bite your
alloyed lip before you
grab my hand,
pulled closer I
smell the cedar and
smoke in your
pores.

I’m fixated in the
stare that
aims
to make my
mind race and
rest all at
once.

Hand in
hand
We watch the
sky shimmer
down upon us
Ready for a
new start.

Nice, like this one alot
Feeling like this about a love adulterated somehow
and then the feeling of hope at the end for 'new start'
'...with the moon as our lantern as we travel deeper into the forest'
I love the lantern moon
