The clock is ticking

The clock is ticking

A Poem by Savannah

Driving with the windows rolled down, the wind in my hair

My hand intertwined with the warmth of his soft hand

I could hear my mom saying, "This is only temporary, it's not forever"

For once, I wish this could last forever

I wish that time would stop and we could sit like this until the sun burned out

He gets me, you know

He understands what I'm feeling, no words needed

His heartbeat against mine, slow and temporary

His eyes, happy and innocent

Maybe letting my guard down wasn't so bad after all,

maybe finally jumping was worth the fall

Because for once, someone caught me

And I wasn't so scared anymore, I was safe

Safe with someone who lived life to the beat of their own drum

Stopping for no one

We could dance to the songs of the humming birds, the spring air surrounding us

No tears, no fights

Just simpleness

Understand me, will you?

I've never done anything like this before, just a shot in the dark

Don't let me fall, for I'm afraid I'll never get back up again

I've been dropped too many times

So let's take our time, we've only got forever
