This Too Shall Pass

This Too Shall Pass

A Poem by Saumya
"

...An ode to the hard times

"
Days when I wake up,
I wish I couldn't have.
Nights when I can't sleep,
I wish, I could have.

The days seem longer
The nights so short.
So much in the head,
Lots in heart,
People to listen,
People to laugh,
But hardly anyone
Who can feel my loss.

 I wait for dawn
To smile a little,
I wait for night
To sob with an open heart.

And there's a voice,
Not loud, nor harsh
That whispers amidst silence
Often for hours,
Like an angel from afar,
"Don't be disheartened,
Don't breath in, so deep
These loss,
Smile a little,
try giggling A lot.

I know it's hard,
I know it's hard
But smiling sometimes
Heals all scars."

"You worked a lot,
You wept a lot,
I know,
I know
You worked a lot.

All this work,
all these sweat,
You've shed with all you heart
But sigh* , you've still, still lost a lot."

Wipe off your tears
Meet this world
You've imprisoned you,
In yourself so much this far.

It's time to smile,
And stop breathing a word
About your loss
There are many suffering,
They suffer a lot.

start working bravely,
Like you've never smelt loss.
Forget these worries,
Forget the pain,
Forget all the doubts
You have in your brain.

Remember, remember,
It's all a part,
A part of a grand game,
of this world.

No need to worry
And don't feel shame
We learn from mistakes,
We all are the same.

The more the struggles,
The more is the loss,
But once you remember,
"You're greater, happier,
And a braver heart.
These pains,
Are  just a scar!
That sure are a creature
Creature, of some hours.

Stay calm,
Stay cool,
Don't lose your heart
This too shall pass
This too, shall pass.

I like the way you've crafted this to sound like a conversation that a person might have with him/herself. We often argue with ourselves, expressing the tension between our "upbeat" inner self & the other one who is deeply wounded by so much of life. You've showed us these aspects of how it feels without excess drama . . . stated rather dispassionately, in fact, which I prefer becuz life is what it is. We get dealt the cards we have & sometimes our dramatic responses to life are worse than what has actually been experienced in life. Good advice given gently & with relatable examples (((HUGS)))

You're welcome!!
Very well written Saumya. I liked the way you narrated the conversation we have between our mind, heart and soul.

A small correction- a typing mistake i guess:

You wrote:

"Remember, remember My kid,
It's all a a part,"

It should be:

"Remember, remember My kid,
It's all a part,"

Anjali

I am so glad i could read this... This struck straight through my heart... I know this feeling very well and hope is the most delicate thing which once lost is very hard to regain... The emotion through your poem makes it feel less like a poem and more of my thoughts I am going through something like this...This boosted me dear one .... I am obliged .. Great work . Keep writing...

Thank you for posting the poem for us to read. It was a pleasure. The lines connects very tightly to each other. And every line provides wisdom and guidance in life. I usually foresee poetry as a way of expressing sadness, but your poem really conveys optimism, love, happiness, and determination. It's very inspiring to read it. You seem to choose the right words. And I can see that you put a lot of effort writing. It came out from your heart and that's a something poets and writers should have in them.
Thank you again for sharing.

The 'random' works of poetry are usually the best because of the rawness of the emotions n their personal feel.
I read this to myself three times. I love the dialogue. I love the conflict. And I can definitely relate with the speaker when they say
"...People to listen,
People to laugh,
But hardly anyone
Who can feel my loss..."

I like the emotions. Above all I love the repetition at the end of the piece, feels like a chant, like the speaker is trying to convince themselves.

I love your talent. Thanks for sharing this piece of you.
