An ode to Plants..

A piece showing the significance of plants in our lives...

Sweeter than a friend,
Better than a foe,
Enriched with goodness,
We hardly know.

They grow taller,
They grow wider,
seeds turn into plant,
And plant forms seeds,
A miraculous phenomenon,
We hardly see.

They give us fruits,
Some sour, some sweet.
They give us veggies,
We so much need!
They give us medicines,
We often need.
And what about Oxygen,
Which is our basic need.?

They give, and give
With all courtesy,
Without being selfish,
Devoid of greed

A real friend,
We always need .
The one who gives
and Expects the least!
The one without which,
Life might cease.

Shrub or herb,
Plant or tree
adorn our environment,
Like birds and beasts.

Hues of Cherry,
Grape, Rosemary,
Lavender or Lemongrass widespread,
Rue, cinquefoil, or even sassafras
cures all maladies,
A doctor said.

Inhaling the essence
Of an aromatic plant,
Makes one feel fresh,
The way they dint prior witnessed!

Yet we move away,
Not feeling the sway,
They've so much in them,
So much to be explained and said.


Like, love , and nurture trees,
Plant them more,
Devoid of greed.
Flowering, fruiting,
Or only with leaves,
Fill our earth,
With greenery & Peace
And if we live in
our worlds carefree,
they're the reason,
Who forever fulfill
our needs and greeds.

I like this poem! Even with the very minor spelling and punctuation errors, the subject is good. We so often overlook the very plants that give us life. Thank-you for slowing down enough to recognize them and bring them to our attention.
I would work on the cadence and rhythm, maybe experiment with new words to help the flow move more fluidly. I can make out the rhythm you intended, but it's a bit lagging in some places and rushed in others. Continue to read aloud to see how it sounds on the tongue.

a few days ago i realized that our guava tree already had fruit and ready to eat. i was surprised i had been just s busy with work and life hardly even noticed the flowering stage. i actually asked my mom if they were not too early this year hahah. i must say the fruit was really great too, we overlook plants so often and take them for granted but they really are a friend. well written. good read.

Aw I love this poem!! It's really honest and very cute. I love plants a lot (I even name all of mine and talk to them haha). Plants are definitely my friends and it's nice to read a poem all about the nice stuff about plants :)

This has a nice feel to it Saumya.
It lacks balance in that some plants are not good - Japanese knotweed for example could be referred to for a little balance.

This made me think of a short story (TV programme) about a man who could hear flowers communicating.
It's scary - Be warned !!!

Perennial shrub, whose uncontrolled growth, annoys Japan, since it can't be easily destroyed by normal herbicides, or even uprooting the shrub/tree.But there still is a something to smile:
The species of knotweed that is reported in Japan is female, whereas the male plant is only found in some parts of Britain ( this fact, clearly states that Japanese knotweed can't reproduce sexuallly, due to unavailability of the male partner easily) secondly, the knotweed plants that still grow abundantly, reproduce by asexual method, and can be easily taken control over by the local people by the simple application of sea water :)

Also, I saw the video from the link you had sent, and I am really glad and just so touched that I saw it!

Plants really need to be cared, loved, and respected :)

This was actually a write, I dedicated to the " healthy, medicinal, ane positivity sides of those plants/herbs/shrubs. :)

My poor uncle was so sympathetic to plants that when a tree was cut down in his yard while he was in hospital one day he fretted so much on his return that he lost his mind temporarily. He had such an affinity with wood - being a carpenter by profession. Ironic eh?
He's at peace now thank God.

He went crazy after the tree came down and then he lost the will to live and contracted deep depression. He died a few years back. Yes - I think he's at peace now. God rest his soul.

I have seen people writing for plants and they were all very good but what your poem has in special is the down to earth thoughts, the basic things and the most important things about plants that we often ignore.
