Music Box

Music Box

A Poem by

The piano plays softly,
each key breathing a note.
The rhythm slow and steady,
my focus distantly remote.

All color washes out,
black and white taking over.
Figures appear before my eyes,
An apparition of lost roamers.

They dance along the piano,
feet barely reaching the floor.
Suits and elegant dresses fuse,
back and forth they go.

Diamonds glowing, ball gowns flowing,
we've landed back a couple eras.
A handsome lad comes along,
his gloved hand outstretched.

Our hands intertwine,
the floor collapsing underneath.
The piano still sings a lullaby,
your eyes the color of spring leaves.

We're twirling inside a music box,
We've been forever so.
But this song is coming to an end,
Please don't let go.

But we're still dancing.
We'll be forever so..

Please keep writing. I enjoy your poetry. A beautiful and gentle poem of life and a dance. Those dances in a life are remembered with the special people. I like the story in this excellent poem.

This poem has an amazing flow. Very surreal. Floating, drifting, dancing! A couple of good rhymes too:)
