New Heights

New Heights

A Poem by

I've ran until the end of time,
until my feet were searing with pain.
Until blisters threatened my fate,
and cuts wounded my dwindling hate.

And now I'm panting roughly,
and I can't catch my breath fast enough,
a feeling of inevitable doubt
is still cuffing me back from life.

Not just once have I thought,
about soaring through the sky.
Yearning for feathers,
to stretch elegantly from my arms.

While I watch flocks of gulls,
cut the air's silent treatment,
I think of how us humans,
can be numb to unheard emotions.

I want to be something more.
Something intricately abstract;
a view no one will ignore,
a voice never to be intact.

Only you can define yourself,
you're unique in every possible way.
You're original in my eyes,
You'll always be nothing more-nothing less.

So I stand here panting,
running away from life.
Leaving fresh trials behind me,
reaching new heights..

This was incredible, not only for the wonderful flow it has but also because of the meanings it portrays. This poem particularly touched me at these lines Only you can define yourself,
you're unique in every possible way.
You're original in my eyes,
You'll always be nothing more-nothing less," as I am a firm believer in always following the beat of your own drum and being true to yourself, and loving others who do the same.
inspiration poem, thank you so much!

such a beautiful piece, full of vivid expressions and nice flow that added already a perfection to it.
-While I watch flocks of gulls,
cut the air's silent treatment,
I think of how us humans,
can be numb to unheard emotions.- PERFECTION AT ITS FINEST.
The ending is sacredly startling and I like the touch of pureness and authenticity in this poem. Also, it's sagacious.

You are an amazing writer (as Coyote said already). I really love how you flow the words like a melody in your poems. They are like songs from your soul and I love them. You really should be published one day because you're very talented. :)

My favorite lines from this poem were:
"Only you can define yourself
you're unique in every possible way."
Those words were very true and beautiful.
